At Public University Online everyone can watch and listen to lectures from universities around the world for free. The lectures are available as streaming video, audio and text transcription file in their original languages. They are accompanied by online discussion forums. “Users can also print out the discussion and use it as a reference during their studies or elsewhere, thereby bringing a whole new perspective to the global exchange of knowledge.” The author of the project is Jakob Sandvad, a 26-year-old university student, whose wish is to “create a worldwide, democratic and open system to exchange knowledge and ideas.”
